The word “poseable” applies to an action figure that has moveable arms, legs, and head. The child is able to put the toy in any “pose” they want, hence the term “poseable”. The poseable line lasted from 1983 until 1986 and incorporated the Care Bears, the Care Bear Cousins, and play sets modeled from the TV show. It is at times unclear to people which bears and which cousins were made in to poseables. The figures on this site were the only ones made for sale, or made in prototype form. Some people have been known to make there own custom bears by repainting pre-existing bears (see the custom page for examples). The following characters were never made in to poseable form during the 1980’s; Day Dream, Forrest Friend, Harmony*, True Heart*, Noble Heart, Perfect Panda, Polite Panda, Sea Friend, Secret, and Surprise Bear. In 2002, the poseable line was re-established under the Play Along toys logo. Some of the bears were updated with new colors or a new tummy symbol. While most of the original poseable bears were re-released, the only original un-produced poseable to be introduced was Harmony bear with a new symbol. Joining her was three other newly created bears (America Cares, Do Your Best, Laugh-A-Lot) to round out the release. In 2005 the original molds were used to remake the poseable line once again. This time however they were only available in Brazil. The colors and symbols reflected the Play Along versions, but this time using the original 1980’s molds. This release finally saw the début of the long awaited Secret Bear who, along with Day Dream Bear joined ten of the original bears in this newest release. The Cloud Car was also resurrected for the first time. In late 2007 the latest version of the Care Bears were released in poseable form. The bears reflect the look of the new cartoon series (“Adventures in Care-A-Lot”) and the movie, “Oopsy Does It”. The bears are slimer, and have indavidual qualities. The bears have “built in” accessories, like hats and hair decorations. This release has also débuted the much loved True Heart Bear in to poseable form, for the very first time.
